Browser tools for agents

Browser Use.

Give your agent a browser. Check what it does.

Browser Use helps an AI agent read pages, use forms and bring back web information. Run the open-source software yourself, or pay for its hosted agents and cloud browsers. It is a building tool, not a ready-made personal assistant.

Getting started: TechnicalChoose local software or a hosted browser. Set up the model or agent, credentials and browser permissions, then check each action and its cost. Our setup guide, not a performance score.

Good for

Developers and confident builders who want browser tasks in their own assistant or workflow.

Start with

Local use needs software installation, a compatible browser and model access. Cloud needs a project, credentials and an available credit balance. Signed-in websites need separate permission; a new cloud session does not automatically have your personal logins.

Cost

The MIT-licensed software has no subscription charge; models, a computer and optional hosting cost separately. Eligible Cloud signups receive $1 once without a card. Current Cloud is pay as you go, with a $5 minimum top-up. Model charges, browser time and network traffic are separate parts of the bill.

Plans and limits explained

Free software. Cloud costs follow usage.

Free software
The MIT-licensed local software has no subscription charge. You supply its computer, setup and model access. Cloud signup credits are separate; free software does not make hosted browser tasks or models free.
One-time credits
Cloud offers $1 once per eligible person using Google, GitHub or Microsoft signup. No card required. It is not a recurring grant or a fixed task quota. Pricing lists credit expiry as Never. No separate timed trial or automatic paid conversion was confirmed. Some models need a paid top-up.
Pay-as-you-go
Current Cloud is prepaid pay as you go, with a $5 minimum top-up and no required monthly/annual subscription. Purchased credits do not expire. Model rates include a 20% service fee; supported own provider keys still incur that fee plus browser and traffic charges, while the model provider bills tokens separately. Legacy subscriptions follow their own renewal and allowance rules.
Extra costs & limits
Browser time is $0.02/hour, rounded to whole minutes with a one-minute minimum. Default managed proxy traffic is $5/GB; direct or your own proxy uses $0.20/GB of Browser Use traffic instead, plus any external proxy bill. Hosted browsers can remain billable after a run. Optional auto recharge can charge a saved method immediately below its trigger. Default activation and a universal cash cap are unconfirmed; key spending caps are soft and do not cap separate provider bills. Initial ten parallel sessions is capacity, not free jobs.

Prices in USD. Check the billing period; local prices, taxes and offers can differ.

Plan details

Software, model calls, browser time and network traffic have different costs. A small browser-time rate is not the total task price.

Open-source softwareNo software subscription
The public library is MIT licensed. You supply its computer or hosting, setup and model access. A separately paid model or agent does not become free because this library is free.
Cloud signup credit$1 once · no card
One grant per eligible person using Google, GitHub or Microsoft signup. It is not a recurring allowance or a fixed number of completed tasks. Pricing lists credits as non-expiring. No separate timed trial or automatic paid conversion was confirmed. Some models require a paid top-up.
Current Cloud accessPay as you go · $5 minimum top-up
No current monthly or annual subscription is required. Purchased credits do not expire and belong to the project, shared by its keys. Legacy subscriptions have separate renewal and allowance rules; canceling one does not turn off automatic credit purchases.
Model usageModel cost plus 20%
Managed agent model rates include the service fee. With a supported own provider key, the provider bills your tokens and Browser Use still charges 20% of the corresponding published token rates, plus browser and network use. A consumer AI subscription is not a provider API key. Built-in search can also add charges.
Browser and network use$0.02/hour plus traffic
Browser time rounds up to whole minutes, with a one-minute minimum. Managed residential proxy traffic is $5/GB and is on by default. Direct or your own proxy uses $0.20/GB of Browser Use traffic instead; your proxy provider can also bill you. A hosted agent browser can stay open after a run, and that time is billable until it stops.
Capacity10 sessions at once initially
This is a concurrency limit, not ten free tasks. Qualifying successful project payments unlock higher tiers; grants do not. Some existing or Marketplace projects retain different limits.
Automatic spending and limitsCheck before enabling
Auto recharge needs a saved payment method and has separate trigger and purchase amounts. Enabling it below the trigger can charge immediately. Its default state and a universal cash ceiling were not confirmed. API-key monthly caps are soft limits: running work and delayed records can finish above them. They do not cap separate model-provider bills.

USD public rates checked 21 October 2026. Taxes, selected models and legacy terms can differ. No current fixed monthly or annual Cloud plan is added to My Club; use Other or an extra-cost row for your own usage budget. The free-software option does not include model or Cloud spending.

Try something small.

  • Collect information from pages you are allowed to use
  • Check a small web flow in a separate browser
  • Add browser work to an existing assistant

Getting started.

Begin with a public page and no saved accounts. Give the agent a small reading task and check the source. Inspect its actual tools and permissions before allowing changes. For Cloud, check the full session cost and stop the hosted browser when finished; closing your connection alone does not stop its bill.

Hermes maintainers have integrated Browser Use as a default browser driver and published their test work. That is a real developer use case, not our test or proof that every website task succeeds. Local software, hosted agents and browser infrastructure are different routes. A free signup balance is not a monthly free plan.

Read one public sample page.

Try this task
You’ll need
Your configured local agent or Cloud access with enough credit. Use a clean browser with no personal accounts. Cloud browser time and traffic can be charged even for a small task.
A request to copy

Open https://example.com in a separate browser. Return the page title and the destination of its information link. Do not follow that link, sign in, fill forms, buy anything or change files. Mark anything you cannot verify as unknown. Stop the hosted browser after checking the result.

What to expect
Two facts you can compare with the public page.
How to check it is done
Check the title and link yourself. For Cloud, confirm that the browser has stopped and inspect the full session cost, including network use.

A proposed first check based on the setup guides. We have not run this task through Browser Use or connected an account.

Our suggested prompt, based on the linked source. We haven’t tested this task ourselves.

The current service terms name Browser Use Inc. and explicitly state that Browser Use is headquartered in the United States. This is the company base, separate from the location of your browser and model.
