Connect work apps with Agents or AI by Zapier.

Zapier joins work apps so an agent or workflow can carry out a task. Its standalone Agents app and the newer AI by Zapier workflow feature have different limits and bills.

Getting started: Some setupChoose Agents or the workflow editor, connect approved work apps and test one small result. Check action approvals and the right usage allowance before scheduling it. Our setup guide, not a performance score.

Good for

People automating their own work, freelancers and small teams who can connect apps, review results and watch usage.

Start with

A Zapier account, internet and permission to connect the work apps you choose. The terms allow internal business use and require legal capacity to accept them. An external AI-provider key is optional and has its own billing.

Cost

Standalone Agents has 400 free activities/month, shared across the account; these are steps, not 400 finished jobs. Agents Pro is $50/month or $400 paid yearly. The newer AI workflow route needs a paid platform plan, from $29.99/month. A separate 14-day platform trial is available to new accounts.

Plans and limits explained

Two routes. Different free limits.

Free plan
Standalone Agents: 400 activities/month shared by the account, 10 per run before more input is needed. Tests count. Activities are steps, not completed jobs. The separate platform Free plan has 100 tasks/month; its AI access is only an unpublished Standard preview, without tools.
Free trial
The initial new-account platform Professional trial lasts 14 days, needs no card, includes 1,000 tasks and a 30-step limit, then returns to Free without an automatic upgrade. This is not proof of an Agents Pro trial. A Team trial with a card, or a later self-serve trial, can turn into a paid plan; check the selected trial settings.
Paid plans
Standalone Agents Pro: $50/month or $400 for the full year upfront, with 1,500 activities/month and 40 per run; tests do not count. It can be an add-on to the Free platform. The newer AI by Zapier workflow needs a paid platform plan, from Professional $29.99/month; no separate Agents add-on after migration. Full platform annual bills and the observed starting task package were not confirmed. Paid subscriptions renew until canceled.
Extra costs & limits
Agents activities and platform tasks are separate. New workflow AI: Advanced uses three tasks per AI step and successful action/lookup; Premium uses five and is the default. Standard has no tools. Your own AI key uses one per step/action plus separate provider charges. Paid extra-task billing is on by default for accounts created after January 2024; check its rate or disable it. Total use can reach three times the included task limit; that is not a dollar cap. Platform and add-on bills may coexist; cancel each unwanted bill in the confirmed account flow.

Prices in USD unless noted. Check the billing period; local prices, taxes and offers can differ.

Plan details

Agents activities and platform tasks are separate billing units. Choose the route before comparing a price or allowance.

Standalone Agents Free$0 · ongoing
400 activities/month for the whole account; 10 per run before it asks for input to continue. Tests count. Actions, lookups, browsing and other steps can each use an activity. At the monthly cap, new work pauses. These are not 400 finished jobs.
Standalone Agents Pro$50 / month
1,500 activities/month and 40 per run; tests do not count. The full annual invoice is $400 upfront, equivalent to about $33.33/month. Agents is a separate add-on; a paid platform plan is not required for this route. Paid plans renew until canceled.
AI inside workflowsProfessional from $29.99 / month
A paid platform plan is needed to publish the newer AI by Zapier workflow. The platform Free plan has 100 tasks/month for basic workflows; AI has only an unpublished Standard preview there. Annual views show monthly equivalents; a full Professional annual invoice was not confirmed. No separate Agents add-on is needed after migration.
New-account platform trial14 days
The initial Professional trial needs no card, has 1,000 tasks and a 30-step workflow limit, and returns to Free without an automatic upgrade. This does not establish an Agents Pro trial. A Team trial with a card, or a later self-serve trial, can become paid; inspect its trial settings.
Task usage and extra billsCheck the chosen route
Advanced uses three tasks for the AI step and three for each successful action or lookup. Premium uses five of each and is selected by default. Standard uses one task but cannot use tools. Your own model key uses one per step/action, plus the provider’s separate bill. Full workflow tests also use tasks. For accounts created after January 2024, paid-plan extra task billing is on by default; the exact rate is in billing. Total use can reach three times the included task limit before workflows pause. This is not a dollar spending cap.
Work limits and approvalReview settings
Workflow AI normally pauses at 75 tasks per run; the setting can rise to 500. Tool approval is off by default and must be enabled for each tool. Standalone Agents has different per-run limits. Model tiers, workflow task pools and connected services are not a free consumer-chat subscription.
Team and EnterpriseSeparate offers
The observed monthly Team platform view starts at $103.50; confirm its task package and user limits. Enterprise is quoted. Paid platform and Agents add-on bills can coexist; canceling one does not cancel the other. Use the account’s confirmed cancellation flow before renewal. The terms’ Company/Enterprise data-training exceptions do not establish the same protection for Team.

USD before tax, checked 21 October 2026. The marketing page still offers standalone Agents while help describes migration, with no shutdown date. Exact extra-task rates, standalone free-signup card rules and a general Agents Pro trial remain unconfirmed.

Try something small.

  • Collect industry news into a table you review
  • Turn a blog post into social drafts
  • Prepare a customer follow-up draft from meeting notes

Getting started.

Choose the product route first and check its allowance. Begin with sample notes and a draft you review. In workflow AI, turn on Require approval for each sensitive tool; it is off by default. Review the run and task count before scheduling more work.

Zapier’s NisonCo story describes news research into Sheets and CRM/email drafts. It is a provider-published standalone Agents account, not our test or proof of the newer workflow feature. No shutdown date for standalone Agents is published; chat-style starts have no direct workflow replacement yet. Data reaches Zapier and connected services; the terms allow some data with identifying details removed to improve or train models, with an opt-out.

Draft a follow-up from sample notes.

You’ll need
Eligible Zapier access and the sample text below. No private inbox or real customer connection is needed for this proposed test.
A request to copy

Use only these fictional notes: Alex will review the draft on Friday. Sam can check the budget but has no deadline. I need to send a project update after Alex replies. Make a three-row table with owner, next step and deadline. Mark unknown details. Do not send messages or connect any apps.

What to expect
Three draft follow-up items, with the missing deadline clearly marked.
How to check it is done
Compare every owner and date with the sample. Nothing should have been sent, scheduled or changed in an outside app. Inspect the usage recorded for the chosen route.
