ego(lite).
Give your own agent a browser with separate workspaces.
Use a local browser that you and your agent can work in together. The agent uses its own Space of tabs while you keep browsing. ego-browser is the connecting skill; ego(lite) does not supply the agent or model. macOS is supported and Windows is in beta.
Getting started: TechnicalInstall the desktop browser and its skill, bring a configured local agent and review its permissions. Importing a signed-in browser profile gives that agent access to those accounts. Our setup guide, not a performance score.
Good for
People already using a local agent who want help researching pages or checking web apps. It takes more setup and permission review than a ready-to-use chat assistant.
Start with
A supported desktop computer, a configured local agent that can run the browser skill and model access. The browser and agent need to stay running. Parallel work uses your computer’s available memory and processing power.
Cost
The individual browser is ongoing free software, with no browser subscription, per-task fee or browser-time charge. You supply the computer, network, agent and model. Their own bills and limits still apply. Business support and deployment are quoted.
Plans and limits explainedFree browser software. Bring your own agent.
- Free software
- Individual browser download and use are ongoing free. Current pricing/help say no browser subscription, per-task charge or browser-time fee. No browser account or email is needed. Parallel Spaces are limited by your machine; they are not free model calls or guaranteed completed jobs.
- Free trial
- No separate timed individual trial or paid conversion is advertised on the reviewed home, pricing or help pages. This is free browser software. No current Business trial duration, allowance, card rule or conversion is confirmed.
- Paid plans
- You keep paying for your chosen agent, model and network under their own rules. No paid individual browser subscription or annual bill is advertised. Business support, onboarding, integrations and deployment are custom quoted; no current seat price, minimum, full annual invoice, renewal or cancellation conditions were confirmed.
- Extra costs & limits
- Model calls, agent plans, network, hardware and local running costs can add charges. Browser software includes no inference credit. Local execution does not mean page data stays private from the selected model: agents can send it to their provider. A shared login can let the agent act on your accounts. macOS and Windows beta are available; a general introduction still says Windows is planned, while current platform docs/pricing/changelog confirm the beta. Linux is on the roadmap. Repository MIT licensing covers its contents, not proof the separate browser binary is MIT.
Prices in USD unless noted. Check the billing period; local prices, taxes and offers can differ.
Plan details
The individual offer is ongoing free access, rather than a time-limited credit trial.
- Individual browser$0 browser cost
- Current pricing and platform help confirm free download/use on macOS and Windows beta. No browser subscription, task fee or browser-time charge. The pricing page says no account or email is needed. Parallel Spaces are limited by your machine, not an included number of paid model calls.
- Agent, model and networkSeparate costs and limits
- Use your own configured agent and model. Their subscriptions, token bills, quotas, network and local running costs still apply. An eligible agent’s existing plan may cover its model use under that plan’s own rules; the free browser does not create new inference credit or entitlement.
- BusinessCustom quote
- The pricing page offers support, guided setup, custom integrations and deployment terms. No public seat price, minimum, annual bill, trial duration, card rule, renewal or cancellation terms for a specific Business order were confirmed.
- Trial and platform limitsCheck the current guide
- No separate timed individual trial or paid conversion is advertised. The general macOS introduction still calls Windows planned, but the Windows guide, pricing page and 19 October release confirm its beta. Linux remains on the roadmap. The skill repository is MIT; its own license note describes the browser as a separate free download. Do not call the whole browser MIT open source.
No software was installed, browser data imported, agent permission changed, model key supplied or provider task run for this review. Current free software pricing does not promise free external model use or a complete job.

Try something small.
- Ask your configured agent to compare public pages
- Research a topic in a separate set of tabs
- Let a coding agent inspect a local test page
Getting started.
Choose the macOS or Windows guide. Install ego(lite), check the skill in your existing agent and start with a public read-only page. Review any browser-data import before approving it. Check the agent’s access and model costs before using personal accounts.
Kai Khalid publicly described a research routine using Claude Code to plan and check work done in ego. That is a user report from August 2026, not our test or a reliability score. Spaces separate tabs; they are not a separate security boundary for the logins you share. Page content can go to your chosen model. The quick-start guides suggest broad agent execution access; understand that scope and keep approval for changes, messages, purchases and account access. Browser imports can include passwords and cookies. Do not treat a local browser as proof that no data ever leaves the computer.
Read a public page in a separate Space.
Try this task
- You’ll need
- ego(lite) installed with its skill and an already configured local agent. Check model costs and permissions before starting.
- A request to copy
Use ego-browser to read https://example.com in a new task Space. Return the visible page title, two short facts and the source URL. Do not sign in, import browser data, follow links, submit forms, change files or send messages. If anything is unavailable, report what you could not read rather than guessing.
- What to expect
- A short answer linked to the public page, with its task tabs available for inspection.
- How to check it is done
- Open the source yourself and compare the title and facts. Confirm that no account action or local file change happened. Check the agent’s model usage separately from the free browser.
Our suggested read-only first task, not a tested ego(lite) result or a promise of free model usage.
