Gemini Notebook.
Make sense of the sources you choose.
Formerly NotebookLM, Gemini Notebook works with a collection of material you add. Ask questions with source references, compare documents and create study materials or overviews. It is a separate product from the Gemini assistant.

Good for
When you want to understand a chosen set of documents, research sources or study material.
Start with
An eligible Google account in a supported region, and source material you have permission to add.
Cost
Standard is free with limits. Eligible Google AI Plus, Pro and Ultra plans add access and higher limits; Workspace and Cloud routes have separate terms. Current usage can have five-hour refreshes and a weekly cap. Check your plan in the app.
Try something small.
- Compare two articles with references
- Turn course material into a study guide
- Make a quiz from your own sources
Getting started.
Sign in with an eligible Google account, create a notebook and add two public sources or files you can use. Ask one question, then open the cited passages and check the answer.
Source references help you check an answer; they do not guarantee it is correct or complete. Check which sources were used and whether they are current. Notebook access, source limits and usage differ by plan.
Compare two supplied sources.
Try this task
- You’ll need
- A notebook containing two public articles on the same subject.
- Our starter prompt
Using only these two sources, compare their main points. For each point, cite the source passage, mark disagreements and say when the sources do not answer the question. Finish with three questions I should investigate next.
- What to expect
- A short comparison with references back to your sources.
- How to check it is done
- Open every citation. Confirm that it supports the point and that neither source’s date or uncertainty was lost.
