Research agent and paper review
By Elicit Research PBCUnited States

Elicit.

Find papers. Compare what they say.

Search academic papers, ask a research question and gather findings in a table or report. Elicit also supports structured literature reviews. You choose the question and check the evidence it extracts.

Getting started: EasySign in and ask one research question. Open the cited papers to check the answer; structured reviews need screening rules and more setup. Our setup guide, not a performance score.

Good for

Students, researchers and analysts who want to find papers, compare findings or prepare a literature review.

Start with

A browser, an account and the ability to check academic papers. The terms require legal age to agree. Academic and nonprofit prices are separate from Industry offers; use the plan that applies to you.

Cost

Basic is ongoing and free, with limited agent and report usage. Academic Plus is $19/month or $132/year upfront; Industry Pro is $75/month or $588/year. These are different offers. More usage and optional extra consumption cost more.

Plans and limits explained

Free search and separate paid offers.

Free plan
Basic has ongoing paper search, summaries and chat with available full-text papers. Agent and report use is limited; no numeric monthly AI pool is published.
Free trial
No separate general paid-plan trial or free-signup card requirement confirmed. Try for free links to Basic.
Paid plans
Academic Plus $19/month or $132/year; Pro $69/month or $468/year. Industry Pro $75/month or $588/year. Annual bills are paid upfront. Scale and Enterprise have separate offers.
Extra costs & limits
A shared monthly usage pool replaces older report counts and daily agent caps; no rollover. Pro/Scale can enable extra usage with a monthly spend limit, charged in $100 increments and any final remainder. Cancel to stop renewal; paid access continues to period end. The Plus card and help differ on the dedicated systematic-review workflow.

Prices in USD unless noted. Check the billing period; local prices, taxes and offers can differ.

Plan details

Academic and Industry plans have different prices and included usage. Annual prices are full upfront bills, not monthly payments.

Academic Plus$19 / user / month
Or $132 per user/year upfront. For eligible academic and nonprofit users. More usage and exports. Confirm the dedicated review workflow: the pricing card and help describe Plus access differently.
Academic Pro / Scale$69 / $149 per user / month
Full annual bills are $468 / $1,068 per user. Higher shared monthly usage; Scale adds team features. Feature limits still apply.
Industry Pro / Scale$75 / $279 per user / month
Full annual bills are $588 / $2,028 per user. Industry Pro and Academic Pro are different offers. Enterprise and institutional terms need a quote.

Try something small.

  • Find papers about a learning method
  • Compare study methods and findings in a table
  • Set up screening rules for a literature review

Getting started.

Create an account and start with a small public research question. Read the cited passages and original papers. For a structured review, define inclusion rules and extraction columns before screening a larger set.

Check the original methods, figures and citations. AI can miss or misread details. Current help replaces older fixed report counts with a shared monthly usage pool. The Academic Plus card mentions systematic reviews, while help limits the dedicated workflow to Pro and above; confirm the feature before paying.

Compare three learning studies.

Try this task
You’ll need
An Elicit account with available usage. Use a public question and no private files.
A request to copy

Find three studies about spaced practice in language learning. Make a small table with the year, participants, method and main finding. Link each paper. Say when you only have an abstract and mark anything you cannot confirm.

What to expect
A small reading list and comparison table to check against the original papers.
How to check it is done
Open each source. Check that the participants, method and finding match the paper. Do not treat three studies as a complete review.

Our suggested first task, not a hands-on test. Available usage and source access vary.
