Good for

When you want an agent to understand a codebase, make changes and run checks.

Start with

A paid Claude plan or a funded Anthropic Console account, plus a code project. Claude Free does not include Claude Code.

Cost

Claude Code is included with paid Claude plans: Pro is $20/month when billed monthly ($17/month with annual billing); Max starts at $100/month. Usage limits apply. API-key use is billed separately.

Getting started.

Open Claude Code on the web or in Claude Desktop, or install the terminal or IDE version. Sign in and give it a small task in a project you can review.

Check how you signed in. An ANTHROPIC_API_KEY can make Claude Code charge API usage instead of using your subscription allowance. Review the code and tests before publishing.
