OpenHands.
Give coding tasks a shared workbench.
OpenHands gives developers a workspace for coding agents and repeatable engineering tasks. Agent Canvas can work with a local, self-hosted or cloud backend. The chosen agent and model determine what it can do and what usage costs.
Getting started: TechnicalInstall Agent Canvas, choose a backend and configure model access. Local execution needs a deliberate file-access boundary; team setup needs more administration. Our setup guide, not a performance score.
Good for
Developers and engineering teams who want configurable coding agents, control over where work runs and workflows they can reuse.
Start with
A supported computer and backend. The local npm route currently needs Node.js 24 or later and uv; Docker is an alternative. Cloud use requires a separate eligible account.
Cost
Agent Canvas has a free local/self-hosted option. Model access and runtime costs are separate. Self-hosted Teams is $499/month for up to 10 seats; Teams Plus is $999/month for up to 20. Both advertise a 30-day trial.
Plans and limits explainedLocal software, team controls and running costs.
- Free software
- Agent Canvas has free local/self-hosted access. Model and runtime costs are separate. Selected OpenHands-routed models can be temporarily free; this is not a permanent model allowance.
- Free trial
- Teams and Teams Plus advertise 30-day trials and cancellation anytime. Trial card requirements, automatic conversion and exact cancellation timing were not confirmed.
- Paid plans
- USD self-hosted Teams $499/month for up to 10 seats; Teams Plus $999/month for up to 20 seats. Both have a 5,000-session monthly cap. Bring your own model access. Enterprise quoted. Current public Cloud price and annual bill unconfirmed.
- Extra costs & limits
- Model usage, compute and connected tools can bill separately. Supported third-party agents use their own login and model access with existing limits. General terms permit advance recurring billing if the selected plan includes auto-renewal; this does not confirm trial conversion. Temporary free routes apply only to the marked OpenHands routes.
Prices in USD unless noted. Check the billing period; local prices, taxes and offers can differ.
Plan details
Current USD team prices are for a self-hosted organization, not an individual Cloud subscription. A current public Cloud price, full annual bill and trial conversion terms were not confirmed.
- Agent CanvasFree local software
- The open-source core is free. Model calls, your computer or server, and connected services can have separate costs. Free access uses a shared identity; paid team controls are different.
- Teams$499 / month · up to 10 seats
- Self-hosted team controls and a 5,000-session monthly cap. Bring your own model access. The advertised trial is 30 days, with cancellation anytime.
- Teams Plus$999 / month · up to 20 seats
- Adds SAML/SSO to the team offer. The same 5,000-session monthly cap applies. A session cap is not an included model-token budget.
- Temporary free model routesCheck the exact route
- Help labels selected OpenHands-routed models free during promotional periods. These offers change. No permanent free model allowance, numeric quota or end date was confirmed; other providers can bill for a similarly named model.
- Other agents and CloudCheck the selected billing route
- Supported third-party agents manage their own login and model access. Existing plan limits still apply. Cloud sandboxes and provider models have separate entitlements to check; a team price does not establish a Cloud allowance.
Trial card requirements, automatic conversion and exact cancellation timing were not confirmed. General service terms allow advance recurring billing when the selected plan includes auto-renewal; check your actual offer. Enterprise is quoted separately. My Club’s $0 choice means software only, and team prices cover the whole stated seat allowance. Add model and runtime bills separately.

Try something small.
- Inspect a code project and discuss a change
- Prepare a small patch for review
- Set up a repeatable engineering task
Getting started.
Follow the current Agent Canvas guide. Choose where the agent runs, limit the project files it can reach and configure the model or supported third-party agent. Begin with a small sample project and review its proposed work.
Canvas itself does not isolate an agent from your files. A backend running directly on your computer can act with your account permissions. Free software, a temporary free model route and a team trial are three different offers. Review code and command access.
Discuss a change in a sample project.
Try this task
- You’ll need
- A configured Agent Canvas backend and model route. Use a disposable sample project with a narrow file-access boundary.
- A request to copy
Read this sample project and explain its structure. Suggest one small improvement and list the files it would affect. Do not edit files, run commands, connect services or publish anything.
- What to expect
- A proposed change you can inspect before authorizing any execution.
- How to check it is done
- Compare the file list with the project. Check that nothing changed and inspect the model or runtime usage charge.
Our untested starter suggestion. A prompt alone is not an access boundary: configure the backend permissions first. No provider account was created and no task was run.
Our suggested prompt, based on the linked source. We haven’t tested this task ourselves.

The service terms explicitly say All Hands AI is headquartered in the United States. This is separate from where a chosen local, self-hosted or cloud backend processes data.
